INTERVIEW TIPS

1.  Dress to impress

Always dress to impress on your first meeting.  People can make a judgment call on the way you dress in only five seconds and you want them to immediately be impressed rather than concerned.  For men a light colored suit in either Navy or Grey with a light colored dress shirt and conservative tie is appropriate.  For women a light colored suit or appropriately length dress with conservative shirt is appropriate.

2.  Prepare Your Resume

Piecing together a resume the night before on Word may not be the way you want to come off to your prospective employer.  Spend time on your resume and have it edited and edited over again by someone other than yourself.  Have your resume printed on quality paper and make sure the layout is clean and readable.

3.  Practice Makes Perfect

Everyone gets nervous from time to time.  How do you qualm your fears?  Practice makes perfect.  Practice a mock interview with a friend and have them provide impromptu questions for you.

4.  Ask Questions

Many times you may feel that an interview is all about you.  Sometimes it’s good to turn the tables.  By asking questions it will make you come off as confident and at ease.  It will also help you to see if the environment of your potential employer is going to work well for you.

5.  Body Language

Most importantly make sure your body language communicates confidence.  Look your employer in the eye and speak clearly and intelligently with correct grammar.  Appearance is everything and your body language should communicate this.  Good luck!
